A monster awakens in the off-season.

Porsche 917 Shot for Porsche Norway

The Porsche 917 is perhaps the most iconic race car of all time… With a brutally violent history in racing, record breaking victories in Le Mans and a powertrain that would still embarrass some of the wildest race cars today, it was never really considered a beauty queen. Today, its presence is felt wherever it goes. With a design that has earned its place in museums and the history books, its hard to argue that the Porsche 917 isn’t one of the most classic designs ever to come out of Stuttgart.

Knut is a man with a hobby he takes far too seriously. He loves the art of automotive design and engineering, so much so that he prefers to spend his free time in his garage tinkering away at his full-scale carbon fiber replica of Porsche’s 917. It took him ten years to build and now he spends his spare time on his other hobby; driving it.

It was our job to tell the story of a fish out of water: Knut’s 917cfk on rally tires drifting over meters of frozen lake in the middle of Norway. Porsche Norway approached us with the goal of creating imagery (film and photos) that was extremely likeable and (hopefully) viral. So that’s what we did.

We filmed the project with a combination of a chase camera mounted to a follow car, drones, cameras mounted to the car and static hand held shots. The audio was recorded on shotgun mics from the exterior and microphones mounted inside and around the car.
